Memorial Service for Dave Money

Officiating - Rev. Joseph Choi

Message - Rev. Joseph Choi

Tributes and Remembrances: Cec Lamrock, Herman Engal, LeeAne Money, Sid Castle

MONEY, John David made his final road trip home to heaven and passed away peacefully in his 86th year, on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Scarborough General Hospital. Beloved husband to Beverley (nee Tully) of 63 years. Cherished Father of Donald (Selma & Efecan). Proud sibling to Joanne (Ray), Robert, and predeceased by Edith, Richard and parents Cyril & Agnes. Well loved Uncle, Brother-In-Law, family at large, garden community, Bridlewood church friends and many others whose lives he touched maybe even just in a brief passing … all will miss him dearly. Dave’s accomplishments were many, as were his family, friends and those who saw him as their mentor. Next to his family and his love for his faith, flowers (his third love) bloomed in his soul. He headed up the Flower Show and Rose Competition at the CNE for 28 years. He orchestrated the entire Horticultural program at the Loblaws garden centres for 24 years covering stores from Ottawa to Sarnia. He started the Beach Garden Society and Leaside Garden Society with great success. He and Bev were a part of several garden clubs and horticultural societies including the Bulb Society. He was President of the Scarborough Garden Club and the Rose Society, often not once but twice. Dave organized a team to help preserve and protect Ontario’s heritage trilliums in Todd Morden Park. In gardening season, despite the enormous amount of work and pleasure in tending to his own large garden, he could always be found Monday evenings at the Campbell Farm in Scarborough with a team of horticulture friends keeping their large gardens weed free and perfectly manicured as well. He was treated like royalty when honoured with the Ontario Lieutenant Governor’s Volunteer Award at Queens Park in downtown Toronto – something he never asked for but others nominated him for. Time meant nothing to Dave and he could not be hurried or rushed and always felt there was time for everything he wanted to do or thought should be taken care of. This included his large list of recreational activities including being a fish hobbyist, stamp & coin collector, gardening and his dear love of his own pets plus those strays he cared for along the way. If one were allowed to have four great loves, Florida was his. Dave and Bev spent 19 years as Florida snowbirds. If health issues and friends & family calling them back home hadn’t won surely he would of loved the Florida sun all year long. His ability to attract friends and share his knowledge in their Florida community and church finds many other Snowbirds & Floridians also mourning his loss. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 only a small immediate family service will take place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, if you care to make donations in Dave’s name please do so to either Bridlewood Presbyterian Church or The Canadian Cancer Society. The family thank you for all your condolences. Please help them in remembering Dave by continuing his legacy in all he started moving forward. John David Money … a life so well lived and a soul never to be forgotten.

Celebration For The Life Of Bob Morris

Officiating - Rev. Ian Campbell Message - Rev. Joseph Choi Tributes and Remembrances: Rev. Ian Campbell, Michael & Patrick Small, Robert Cousins, Richard Kon...

Words about Bob:

Robert “Bob” Douglas Morris was born on March 27, 1940 in Sarnia, Ontario. The son of missionary parents, his early years were spent in Nigeria at the Oyi River leprosarium administered by his parents. He was their sole child born in Canada – his brother and sisters, Wally, Estelle, and Joan, were all born in Nigeria – sometimes in trying circumstances. He attended Kent Academy in Nigeria, and then in 1952 he and his siblings returned to Canada and lived at Gowan’s Home, a boarding house for children of missionaries, in Collingwood, Ontario. They did not see their parents again until 1957, such was the difficulty and expense of travel in those times and their parents ‘ commitment to their mission.
Early on he knew failure, through unsuccessful attempts at a triple major of math, physics and chemistry at the University of Toronto. Even in his later years, he would recount the colour of the blank paper at his final, fated examination. He recovered, received his B.Th. from the London College of Bible and Missions, and also obtained a B.A. in History and English from the University of Western Ontario.
His faith ran true and he found happiness, purpose and success following in his parents’ steps as a missionary beginning in 1970 – first as a history teacher and then headmaster at Woodstock School in Mussoorie, India. After Woodstock, he held various executive positions with his mission, BMMF/Interserve, in Karachi, Pakistan, New Delhi, India and Nicosia, Cyprus. He travelled widely serving the many missionaries under his care – many of whom lived and worked in difficult and dangerous places, often alone and with little support.
Finally, over these last few years, he completed his calling as a part of the Interserve Canada leadership team where he facilitated a key role as missions advisor, mentor of young missionaries and catalyst to impact the church in the direction of missions. His influence was felt far beyond Interserve as he served his Saviour in Canada in many different missional initiatives: MissionPrep, the Tyndale Inter-Cultural Ministries Centre at Tyndale University (of which he was an alumnus and also received an Honourary Doctorate), the Maranatha Foundation and Perspectives, as well as contributing to Urbana.
Bob Morris was a man of God whose influence continues through those whom he taught, coached and mentored. Bob understood that to be a disciple of Jesus Christ was just the entrance to a new paradigm of life and ministry.
